A Wigan-based manufacturer and supplier of filtration systems for fish ponds, has won a contract to become the sole distributor in the whole of the UK and Europe for a market-leading US manufacturer.
Evolution Aqua will distribute Sequence Pumps throughout the UK and Europe and hopes to sell around 10,000 systems a year.

The pumps, which cost up to £390 each, are made by Colarado-based MDM Incorporated and are regarded as the most efficient pumps on the market in terms of running costs and the amount electricity they use.

They can be used in freshwater and saltwater ponds and also in swimming pools. The Royal Bank of Scotland's commercial team in Manchester provided Evolution Aqua with a £165,000 funding package to help secure the contract.

Evolution Aqua was approached directly by MDM thanks to their excellent reputation in the market.

Established in 2001, the company makes their own range of pumps and filters at their Wigan base and supply these to more than 60 countries
worldwide.

Evolution Aqua's reputation has been built upon their expertise is supplying filters and pumps for the Koi Carp market where, in some instances a fish could be worth up to £150,000.

Evolution Aqua employs 17 people at their Wigan base.
Mike Shaw, sales and marketing director at Evolution Aqua, said: "MDM approached us after reading an article about our products in a trade magazine.

"They were looking for a European partner that had the technical expertise to support their products and we certainly have this capability. The agreement is great news for us and our customers."
