Volunteers to make day a success

STAFF at a Wigan care home pulled out all the stops to mark this year’s Dignity Day.

The day is designed to give an opportunity for health and social care workers, along with members of the public, to promote the need to uphold people’s rights to dignity and provide a truly memorable day for people who use care services.

Rachael Whalley, of Mahogany Care home, Newtown, organised the special events at her place of work. The activity co-ordinator at the Marsden Street home, said: “It was a brilliant day, all of our residents enjoyed it. We had students in from Wigan and Leigh College who provided massages for free and representatives from the Living Faith Church in Winstanley who gave a talk about how to keep Jesus in your life.

“People from the church are also going to keep coming back to visit those who don’t have many people coming to see them.

“We also invited residents from the local sheltered accommodation.”
