Wigan's Jon Pollock cut a disconsolate figure after Great Britain's dream of wheelchair basketball gold was snuffed out at the semi-final stage by Australia in Beijing.
The Great Britain skipper was eager for his side to avenge their group stage defeat to the Aussies, but they were soon chasing the game after the 2004 silver medallists chalked up a 19-6 first quarter lead.

Australia stretched out a 26 point lead midway through the second quarter and despite GB battling back to reduce the arrears 67-54 at the hooter, it was too late to resurrect their gold ambitions.

"You can't give a team like that a 20-point lead," he said. "We were never going to get that sort of lead back.

"I can't put my finger on exactly what happened, we were up for it before the game but it didn't happen out there. It was a great comeback to get within nine but it wasn't enough.

"Coming in to the Games we knew a medal would be difficult but to get in to the top four in the world is a big achievement and we need to be ready to go over that finishing line."
