Olivier Kapo is trying to force a move to Latics after failing to return to pre-season training at Birmingham.
The French midfielder, 27, was due back at the Blues' training ground on Wednesday, but faces the wrath of boss Alex McLeish following his no-show.

Kapo wants to follow his former St Andrews team-mate Daniel De Ridder – Wigan's first summer signing - to the JJB Stadium.
And Steve Bruce, who signed him from Juventus for £3m last summer, is hopeful of striking a deal by offering Antoine Sibierski as part of the transfer.

Kapo and Sibierski are both represented by agent Willie McKay.
"Steve Bruce is a big admirer of Olivier having worked with him before and would like to bring him to Wigan, while Marseille hope they can bring him back to France," said McKay.

"I believe Wigan are prepared to offer some players in exchange to try and persuade Birmingham to do a deal."

Kapo, who has two years to run on his contract, has indicated he does not want to play in the Championship this season.
His snub to Birmingham came after a mysterious wrist and hand problem which apparently required surgery in his native France.

McLeish said: "Olivier Kapo has indicated he was staying over in France to have an operation on his hand but we don't know much more than that.

"We pay handsome wages to the players and they should be reporting to our medical team first and foremost if there's a problem of any kind.
"I now have to deal with the situation."
