De Ridder: We were better than Chelsea

Daniel De Ridder made his home debut for Wigan last Sunday and then conceded: "We were unlucky to lose."
The Dutch midfielder, snapped up on a free transfer from Steve Bruce's former club Birmingham in the summer, came off the bench to get his first taste of the JJB Stadium. And after pushing Chelsea all the way, he was disappointed but far from downbeat about their prospects for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old said: "We were the better team and we had a chance to score.
"We are very keen to get the points but we have positives – Chelsea are the richest and one of the best teams in the world, and to play like we did was very positive.
"Chelsea were really glad that the game was over.

"After a couple of minutes it's quite difficult, it was a set piece but we don't have to worry too much because in the game itself we were better.
