Steve Bruce was expected to make his first signing of the summer today with the capture of former Ajax midfielder Daniel de Ridder.
The Holland international will arrive at the JJB Stadium on a free transfer – a year after Bruce took him to St Andrews.
The Amsterdam-born utility man made his full Premier League debut in Birmingham's 3-2 win at the JJB in October.
He is a product of the Ajax Youth Academy, making his senior debut for the Dutch giants at 19.
He made 15 appearances in his first season with Ajax, and also featured in the Champions League before linking up with Spanish La Liga outfit Celta Vigo.
De Ridder, 24, who can operate as a midfielder or a forward, was a key player as the Dutch lifted the European Under-21 Championships, when his displays alerted several Premier League clubs.
