Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey says two-goal hero Antonio Valencia is destined to light up European football.
The £5m winger is hot property and increased his glowing reputation and price tag at Villa Park.
Heskey, who made an £11m move to Liverpool in 2000, told the Observer: "He's definitely good enough to play for the biggest clubs – he's shown that.
"But we hope we can keep hold of him.

"It's totally up to him. You can't hold anyone back and the gaffer knows that.
"You want to be at the big clubs, playing Champions League football in the semi finals like at Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
"Not many players get the opportunity. I didn't get that at Liverpool.
"They are the stages when you've finished your career that you can look back on.

"Antonio has grown and grown. Having Wilson and Maynor here speaking Spanish has really made him come out of his shell.
"Hopefully we can talk him round into staying because he's still young and has a lot to learn."

He added: "I'm sure the gaffer is good enough, if he does leave, to bring someone else in who is just as good."
Chris Kirkland said: "He's contracted to us the same as Wilson. If we don't want to sell them then we don't have to.
"They are massive players for us. But it's up to him and the board to decide."

It is down to the players at the end, but they both will be utter fools to move at this stage. Both Valencia & Palacios have the world at their feet but they will reach that ultimate goal by learning and plying their trade at the Latics for a couple more seasons. Valencia was average last season, and really it's only the last 6 months that he's really turned up his performances. Palacios wasn't playing regularly at Birmingham and whilst he has been superb since he's come here, it's merely over the last 4 months that he's shown what he can do. That is hardly a great length of time. I hope they both stay and it would be great if they came out and said this, thanking the club and fans for taking a chance on them....

Latics Dave, what you say is true, look at Bainsey, hardly played at Everton, I know he was injured but you need to be on view to impress. Nugent left Preston and he hasn't played. These lads need to stay with us and learn to play in tough matches.
