Roberto Martinez reckons Latics face the ultimate test tonight – against a Stoke team he believes are the most well-drilled on the planet.
Tonight's clash at the DW Stadium will present Latics with a thorough physical examination against Potters' up-and-at-them style which has upset more than a few Premier League teams.
And Martinez believes Stoke's success can be put down to one thing – doing the basics right.
He told the Evening Post: "Stoke are very good at what they do, and they have mastered it.
"They actually play a little bit more football than a lot of people give them credit for, and they have a few players – like Tuncay and Matthew Etherington – who are exciting when they get on the ball and make things happen.
"But they remain the best team in world football at doing what they do from throw-ins, from set-plays and working to a strategy.
"They have added another dimension this season, and have maybe gone up to a different level.
"Stoke can score from absolutely anywhere on the field, and our concentration levels has to be there for the full 90 minutes."
