Edman has been out for six months after needing a knee operation.
But the Sweden international trained with his team-mates again last week and assistant manager Eric Black believes he may be pushing for a recall by late October.

His return will increase competition for places in Steve Bruce's thin-squad.

And Figueroa is hoping to stave off the threat posed by Edman's return.
The Honduran made his Latics debut in their final match of last season, against Manchester United.

But he has figured in all of their Premier League matches this campaign and has impressed many fans.

Figueroa said: "I'm very happy that Steve Bruce is playing me in the team.
"I'm happy to be part of the team.
"Even though we lost to Middlesbrough, I'm happy with the way the team is playing."

Ryan Taylor is also inching his way back towards Steve Bruce's plans after a summer disrupted by injury.
"Ryan is doing tremendously," said Black. "It'll be a big boost having him and Erik in contention.

"I think we're down to 17 fit out-field players, so the more options we have the better."
