Amr Zaki will be looking to prove he is the jewel of the Nile tomorrow when he faces Egyptian pal Ahmed Mido.
Latics' clash with Middlesbrough at the JJB (3pm) sees the strikers on
opposite sides for the first time – they're often paired together in the Egypt team.

Both have been in good form this season – Zaki tops the Premier League scoring charts with five goals as well as netting another in the Carling Cup.

Mido has four goals to his name, three in the league and one in the cup, so their battle adds extra spice to the game.
Steve Bruce is a big fan of them both, and is delighted with the swiftness Zaki has adapted to English football, while he has tried to sign Mido in the past.

The Latics boss said: "Zaki keeps on impressing me. I think he's a throwback to an old-fashioned centre-forward.
"Hopefully the lad can continue playing to the level he has reached in the first couple of months of the season.

"Mido is a very good player when he is fit, I tried to take him to Birmingham from Spurs but unfortunately the clubs couldn't agree a fee.
"I haven't tried to sign him while I've been here – there was an enquiry during a conversation but that is as far as it went."

That enquiry came in August as Bruce covered his bases at a time when Emile Heskey was attracting the interest of Spurs and Aston Villa.
Latics midfielder Lee Cattermole has played alongside both Zaki and Mido in the past year, having made the move from Boro to Wigan in the summer.

And the 20-year-old, who faces a fitness test today on a tight hamstring, thinks the Egyptian pair are top quality.
Cattermole said: "Zaki has been playing really well for Wigan – he's been different class for us, a massive part of the team. If we can keep him fit and keep him scoring, it would be terrific.
"Mido is a cracking guy, a quality fella, really genuine."

Bruce will be hoping Cattermole is passed fit to face his former club, the midfielder only having one aborted training session since last Sunday's win over Manchester City.
He spent £3.5m to get the England Under-21 international to the JJB in the summer, and believes the youngster has so far been value for money.

Bruce said: "I'm delighted with what I've seen so far from Lee, I thought he set the tone for us against City last week, he was fabulous for the 50-odd minutes he played. Tomorrow will be a big game for him, his family are from the Middlesbrough area and he was there for years as a player.
"I hope he makes it, but he's still a slight doubt."
