Babies at Wigan's maternity unit could soon be rocked to sleep with a charity music night.
Organisers are hoping to raise enough money to buy specialist equipment including a new baby warmer.

For Phil Davies, who'll be performing with band "The Blind Dominoes" on guitar, it's a special thank you for all the midwives' hard work at the hospital.

Wife, Rachael gave birth to daughter Caitlin six weeks ago.
Event organiser Phil, from Standish, said: "Our experience was fantastic, they couldn't do enough.

"While there we got talking and found out there was a shortage of equipment and we wanted to do something to help.

"Our band has helped to raise thousands over the years for other charities such as Christies, Alder Hey and St Mary's Special Baby Care
Unit, but to be involved with a local Wigan-based Trust makes this event really important to us.

"All members of the band are Wiganers born and bred and we will do everything possible to make this event a massive success.
"We now urge everyone connected with the Trust to get behind this event and purchase a ticket."

The JJB Stadium Marquee is playing host to the special night of music and entertainment on Friday, July 11.

Bands include "The Blind Dominoes" and "Imposter". There will also be an auction, a raffle with some great prizes including a large screen TV.
After dinner speaker Charlie Hale, who was once a regular on BBC2's A-Force, will conduct the sports memorabilia auction.

Charlie is very much in demand on the after dinner speaking circuit, where he performs his own brand of comedy. He is also a gag and speechwriter for celebrity speakers.

Diane Swindlehurst, Head of Midwifery, said: "We are extremely pleased
that Phil has chosen us as his fund-raising theme for this year, the monies that are raised will go to ensuring that the excellent service provided to women and their families on the maternity unit is enhanced by the equipment being donated."

Tickets for the night, which is sponsored by Millglobe Vehicle Leasing Limited, Kirkham, are priced at £15 each, and available from Emma Cooke, Communications Officer at the Trust.

Doors open at 7pm until 1am with a hot buffet being served.
