The company received no fewer than four nominations at this year’s National Operatic and Dramatic Association awards.

And out of those it triumphed in the Best Musical Revue category with its production Curtain Up.

The categories for which it was also nominated were Best Overall Production, Best Ensemble Cast (also for Curtain Up), and Lee Sillery for Most Entertaining Performance for Ali Hakim in Oklahoma.

Chairman Hilary Harrison said: “Needless to say we are thrilled about this and I’m sure that this news will spur us on to putting together another superb show in April.”

The show in question is Cole Porter’s Anything Goes. Running from April 8 to 14, the musical boasts hit songs including I get a kick out of you, You’re the Top, It’s de-lovely, Blow, Gabriel, Blow and, of course Anything Goes.

Anyone wanting to come along and join WMTG, either onstage or backstage, is made very welcome.

They rehearse on Monday evenings from 7.45pm at St Mary’s Parish Hall, Standishgate, Wigan.
