AMERICA here we come!

Little Braiden Prescott is all set to travel to the US in October for life-saving cancer treatment.

Since Braiden was diagnosed with neuroblastoma earlier this year, he has been undergoing treatment at Manchester Children’s Hospital.

In July, surgeons successfully removed the cancerous tumour from the back of his stomach and he has been going through chemotherapy.

His grandad, Paul Reece, of Leigh, said: “Braiden has just had a chemotherapy bone marrow transplant and is on medication to stimulate the bone marrow to grow.

“At the moment he is not doing too good, but he is picking up slightly. He is in Manchester Royal Hospital for six weeks and we are hoping to send him to America next month.”

As the life-saving operation costs £250,000 the three-year-old’s family are still fund-raising.

Paul added: “We have got £30,000 so far and people have been fantastic, giving money all the time. It is unbelievable. Emma Hoolin’s parents have been in touch as she has undergone the treatment so they have advised us on what we should expect and do.”

Braiden’s parents, Wayne Prescott and Stephanie Reece, will be supported by charity Families Against Neuroblastoma who will subsidise the cost, while they continue to raise money to put back into the organisation.

Meanwhile, a series of fund-raising events are taking place to help Braiden. A musical concert ‘Friday Night Live’ will be held this Friday, September 14, at Bickershaw Labour Club, from 7pm. For tickets, which cost £5, call Sue on 07742 487063.

On September 21, an X Factor night will take place at Leigh Miners Club, from 7pm. Entry on the door is £2.50 for adults or £1 for children.

A two-hour Zumbathon is organised for October 12, at Lowton Labour Club, from 7pm. Entry is £8 on the door.

And the community can enjoy a fancy dress Halloween night on October 26 at Eastleigh Labour Club, in Leigh, from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £2 for adults, £1 for children or £5 for a family ticket of two adults, three children.
