FROM micro pigs to ferrets, ProCo’s Montrose Skills Hub has it all.

The training organisation, which offers a wide range of learning opportunities centred around animal care, has created its own urban farm.

Since the centre moved to the site in Montrose Avenue last January, it has been developing the farm, taking in rescue animals.

So far it has a range of exotics, reptiles and farm animals, including chickens, rabbits, ferrets, micro pigs, rats, mice, guinea pigs, degus, hamsters, turtles, hissing cockroaches, praying mantis, bearded dragons, snakes and geckos.

Montrose Skills Hub provides learner courses in animal care, horse care, veterinary care, environmental conservation and land-based studies for students aged 14 plus and hosts visiting days for schools in the area.

See the Wigan Observer next week for the full story on the centre’s exciting plans.
