SANTA is steaming down to Wigan this Christmas.
The popular miniature railway around the Plantations which was revived earlier this year has been transformed into the Santa Express this year complete with grotto.
It will now run every Sunday up to and including December 22 but, as it is likely to prove extremely popular, advanced booking is advised.
Run in partnership with Friends of Haigh Country Park and The Conservation Volunteers, Santa will also be visiting Mesnes Park on Sunday, December 15 and Sunday, December 22, between 11am-3pm, when there will be musical entertainment on site and the chance to take part in Christmas crafts.
There is also the opportunity to learn how to make Christmas decorations from natural materials at Pennington Hall Park in Leigh on Sunday, December 21 from 1pm-3pm.
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust is also supporting the first ever Mesnes Park Santa Dash on Sunday (December 8). Those who fancy a fun run, complete with beard and scarlet robes, should call 01942 827090 for more information.
