A WIGAN family has become the first to try out the town’s new pool.
Michael Maguire from Platt Bridge along with his wife Chulaphorn and 12-year-old daughter Natthida enjoyed a dip ahead of its public opening after winning an exclusive Wigan Evening Post competition.
They also received a free 12-month family gym membership courtesy of Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust.
Michael said: “These facilities are amazing. People should really come along and check them out. To think Wigan has something like this really makes you proud.”
The south site of the new multi-million pound Wigan Life Centre is now open to the public. It boasts two pools, state-of-the-art, gym and steam and sauna room.
Mike Lyons, WLCT’s head of service for Sport and Leisure, said: “We are delighted that Michael views the facilities so highly.”
The north site Information Zone is due to open in the new year.
