A WIGAN beauty queen is to host her own pageant for girls across the borough.

Jade Boswell, 17, has organised the inaugural Miss Little Wigan Beauty and Miss Teen Wigan Beauty contests for later this year.

Both competitions will culminate with a grand final on July 14 at the Rose Club in Hindley.

Jade has organised the event for a cause close to her heart in Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

It’s a charity she has supported since winning Miss Teen Wigan 2012 and representing the town in the Miss Teen Great Britain 2012 competition.

Now, she wants to give other aspiring models the chance and has organised the competitions for girls aged 16 and below, but both contests will be about much more than looks though. Jade said: “A common mistake people make about pageants is they think it’s all about looks. It’s not, it really is much more than that.

“It’s about you and the kind of person you are and what you are willing to do for others.

“This is where the charity aspect comes in. Our chosen charity is Wigan and Leigh Hospice and we aim to raise a minimum of £1,200.”

The way this is done is with each girl raising a minimum of £25 sponsorship and handing it in at the local branch at Kildare Street, stating their name and the fact they are entering the competition.

Miss Little Wigan Beauty will be for girls aged between 8-12, while Miss Teen Wigan Beauty will be for teens between 13 and 16.

Jade, a semi-finalist in this year’s Miss Teen Great Britain competition, added: “Wigan and Leigh Hospice is a great charity that I have been proud to support.

“This is great for two reasons as it will raise a lot of money and give other young girls across Wigan the chance to enter a beauty contest. Remember that you can raise more than £25 if you like and on the night of the final there will also be a winner’s sash for Miss Charity Wigan Beauty 2013 for the girl who raises the most funds.”

The July 14 final will include three rounds; party wear, formal wear and interview, with judges will make the decision as to who is crowned the winner. For more information, or to enter, email missteenwiganbeauty@gmail.com or visit the Facebook page “missteen wiganbeauty.”
