Come, dance with Vernon
Tess Daly and Vernon Kay
AFTER dismissing rumours he wants to present Strictly Come Dancing, Vernon Kay now wants a dancing part.
The former St John Rigby pupil revealed that he would like to appear as a contestant on the next series of Strictly Come Dancing, rather than take over from host Bruce Forsyth.
Speaking to The Sun’s TV Buzz, he explained: “I have never had that conversation with anyone, but I would like to give it a go as a contestant.
“Hopefully that would put all other talk to bed.”
The Family Fortunes host has recently finished filming a pilot for Play Your Cards Right, which 83-year-old Bruce used to present in the 1990s, but Vernon insisted that Bruce had given him his blessing to film the show.
He said: “I spoke to Bruce when the idea came about and he was very kind. He is a great chap.
“He gave me a couple of pointers about how to work the cards and the contestants. He was really forthcoming.
“He gave me his blessing.
“He said to me, ‘If anyone’s going to do it, it should be you. Give me a ring if you want any advice.’”
