Flashing the cash

SIR Ian Mckellen is the wealthiest celebrity in Wigan.

The 72-year-old was ranked the 65th richest UK celebrity according to OK magazine’s wealth list, earning £5m.

He slipped four places, as he was 61st last year.

His biggest earner was filming two Hobbit films. The first one premiers in December, with the second - There and Back Again - out the following year.

He has also made a low-budget Brit comedy - The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet - which is out in October.
