CORONATION Street actress Catherine Tyldesley has become the 2014 Ambassador for the Great Swim.
The actress, who is dating fitness instructor, Tom Pitfield, of Standish, is passionate about keeping trim and it seemed an obvious choice to her.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to getting involved in the Great Swim series this year.”
There are five Great Swims set for the UK, with the first taking place in Lake Windermere and she will be raising money for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.
Catherine has also confirmed she will be taking part in the Great Manchester Swim.
She told Hello!: “I’ve always enjoyed pool swimming, so I’m looking forward to taking my skills to the open water in iconic locations like beautiful Windermere and Salford Quays - right next to the new Coronation Street set.
“Hopefully I can encourage others to take on the challenge with me. Setting yourself a goal, like an event, is a great way to stick to a regular exercise routine.”
The 30-year-old who places Eva Price in Corrie, was recently nominated for Sexiest Female at this year’s British Soap Awards.
She said: “I am thrilled to bits. Eva is a perfect soap barmaid material. She’s fiesty, gobby and one hell of a gossip.
“I consider it a privilege. When the producers told me, I wanted to hug them.”
But she is not fighting to take the crown off leading winner, fellow co-star Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina McIntyre, as she said: “I do laugh every time people mention my nomination as Soap’s Sexiest Female. Look at Michelle Keegan and look and Georgia May Foote? They are so gorgeous!
“It’s very flattering but I vote for Michelle every year.”
Meanwhile, fellow Corrie actress Kym Marsh has hit the headlines again for her love life.
Just weeks after the Ashton star split from Leigh personal trainer Matt Baker, the 37-year-old has been seen with Dan Cooper.
But the new romance has caused upset with his ex, Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Wareing, who dated him for five years before they split in January and is the mother of his child,
Even Kym’s sister waded into the Twitter debate: “I always thought ‘ex’ meant ‘ex’? Now apparently it means ‘gonna get back together’ #desperatecow.”
