AN Ashton woman who is the General Manager of a community village has won a prestigious national award.
Julie Washington, pictured, who works at Belong Atherton, has taken home the title ‘Most Outstanding Community Village Manager’ at the UK Over 50s Housing Awards 2011, presented last week in Westminster, London.
Julie leads a team of more than 100 staff at the community village which opened in March 2011 and offers extensive services for older people. These include family-sized households offering 24-hour care, an apartment scheme, care in people’s homes and a range of amenities in the village centre.
She said: “Running a village with such a wide range of services is certainly a challenge, but it’s one we had been working up to for years.
“It’s fabulous to finally be in the new building, with a great team of staff working together all there to serve members of the community and provide high quality support.”
