WIGAN journalist Kay Burley owes her sparking career to a pretty dress.
The Sky News reader-come writer, said that she was offered a job on TV-AM on the whim of its boss, the late Bruce Gyngell, who liked the look of her.
She told Top Sante magazine: “I didn’t even want to be on screen. I was 22 and had applied to be a writer on TV-AM. I happened to be walking down a staircase at the same time as chief executive Bruce Gyngell.
“I was wearing a pink dress and pink was his favourite colour. He asked if I would like to be a reporter.”
Meanwhile the 51-year-old revealed she cannot live without her earpiece,
She told Fashion and Beauty magazine; “Being a news presenter can be unpredictable so one thing I rely on more than anything is my earpiece. “Things go wrong and recently my earpiece stopped working. I only realised when we were back on air.”
