KAY Burley got a taste of street life as she sold copies of The Big Issue.
The Sky News broadcaster, who grew up in Beech Hill, was one of many celebrities to try selling the homeless magazine for #VendorWeek. It aims to promote the work of The Big Issue and INSP (International Network of Street Papers) and to raise awareness homelessness. Money raised directly helps Big Issue sellers and the thousands of other street paper vendors across the world.
Kay, who sold a copy to former Tory MP Michael Portillo, said: “The thing I learned was how important it is to be courteous and acknowledge the vendor and the job they’re doing, because nobody likes to be ignored.”
