SKY News reader Kay Burley is known for her bravado and the Wiganer is certainly not afraid of anyone - even the Queen.
The 51-year-old revealed that she committed the cardinal sin - door-stepping the Queen - and managed to get away with it.
She told OK magazine: “It was during the Golden Jubilee in 2002 at Buckingham Palace.
“Sky was in the Music Room and we wanted her to see our display, but we were told she didn’t have time.
“I waited for the doors to open and said: ‘Ma’am, I know this room is incredibly important to you, it’s where you met Nelson Mandela and where Prince William was christened, and I wondered if you could take a few minutes to see what we’ve been doing in this room.’
“She said, ‘Of course.’ That is when research comes in handy, even though the press office hated me.”
Whilst that encounter ran smoothly, the former Beech Hill resident admitted, some interviews have not gone well.
She said: “When I was pregnant (18 years ago), Oliver Reed came on set a bit slurry. I was four stone overweight.
“I asked a question and he replied: ‘Shake your funky stuff at me, red thing!’
“We went to an emergency break and he wouldn’t leave, so we called security.”
But she did enjoy crossing paths with George Clooney.
She said: “We had 60 seconds to chat on the red carpet, but for that 60 seconds I was the only person in the world.
“I was overwhelmed.”
