KYM Marsh is keeping busy with two new exciting projects.
The 37-year-old from Ashton is hoping to revive her singing career by joining legend Candi Staton to record a song.
The two stars were introduced by mutual friend David Gest who is very excited about the duet.
He said: “I am pleased to announce that Candi, one of the all-time greatest soul singers, and my good friend Kym, who I think of as my little sister, are collaborating on a duet.
“They will be going into the studio after this tour to record the single.
“I cannot divulge too many details at this time, but a top American songwriter has written a great tune for them!
“I am trying to convince Kym to go to Atlanta to record it in April. I think this record will put Kym right back on top of the charts.”
Kym will also perform with Candi on the closing night of David Gest’s Legends Of Soul Live Concert! at Gilgamesh in London on February 23.
They will sing Candi’s version of Suspicious Minds.
The Legends of Soul tour features performances from a host of Motown and soul names, including Percy Sledge, Martha Reeves, Weather Girls singer Martha Wash and The Three Degrees star Sheila Ferguson.
For Kym, it will be a chance to get back to her roots, as she started her career as a member of group Hear’Say, who were created on TV talent show Popstars in 2001, before joining Coronation Street.
Meanwhile, Kym is to join the cast of The Vagina Monologues on stage, starring alongside Lisa Riley and Sue Holderness in the theatre production.
She took to Twitter to post a picture of the poster for the production, with the caption: “Can’t wait for this!! Who’s coming?”
She will star in the play for three nights at the Gaiety Theatre on the Isle of Man, from March 20 to 22.
The work will come as a welcome distraction from her turbulent love life, as earlier this year, she was granted a divorce from EastEnders actor Jamie Lomas.
