Ben takes stock to boost school

How many of you would have loved to do this to your teacher?

Classroom assistant Ben Pilling was put in the stocks for the Easter Extravaganza spring fair at Hope Special School in Marus Bridge.

Pupils threw wet sponges and buckets of water at the helpless victim.

There was also a wide variety of other entertainment at the fair such as stalls with fun treats, including cakes, plus plants for parents' gardens. Staff were also helped by 16th Wigan Cubs and Scouts.

Jill Davies, nursery nurse at the school, said: "A wonderful day was had by all and we made lots of money for the school to buy specialist equipment.

"It was a good day and we got the community in. Ben Pilling, who was in the stocks, was a good sport."
