Northern Lights head to Mexico
A Wigan club night could be heading for South America.
Dylan Harris and Sean Doherty, from Lupine Promotions, have been asked to take their Northern Lights events to Mexico City.
Northern Lights, which is held every week at Club Nirvana, on Clarence Yard, was recently voted in the Times as the number one club night in the North West.
Dylan said: "We went to Texas in March for the South By Southwest Festival looking for acts that we could bring over to Wigan.
"While we were watching a band in a bar a few promoters from Mexico City came over to us and started chatting.
"We explained we ran our own club night in Wigan and they invited us to Mexico City to see if we would be interested in bringing Northern Lights over there. Luckily, we went there just before the swine flu crisis began."
Dylan and Sean were asked to run the club night in Mexico every week.
"It's something that we'd love to do but the logistics involved in running and DJing at two weekly club nights in different continents are going to make that almost impossible to do at the moment," said Dylan.
"It would be much more suitable to have a Northern Lights night there once a month, so we wouldn't have to be constantly travelling between Europe and South America.
"In Mexico there aren't a great deal of upcoming bands making it big, but they love British music and the history behind it." In February British indie band The Mystery Jets caused a riot in Mexico when playing their first ever gigs in the country.
Dylan added: "It's a great part of the world and we're really hoping that we can get something started over there."
Northern Lights has previously been featured in NME and last year was featured in The Guardian and on BBC 6 Music.
