The girl Dunn good

Meet a young lady with a pirouette which is beyond compare.

Eleven-year-old ballet star Charlotte Dunn was entered for the Royal Academy of Dance North West Scholarship only to win the prestigious senior section.

This special award is dedicated to the Academy's late revered dance teacher Jean Brenda Johnson and held in honour of her memory every year.

Charlotte will have her name engraved on the trophy which is held by the Royal Academy.

Charlotte, who lives in Highfield and is a pupil at St Matthew's Primary School, was entered by her dance teacher Jennifer Fenney of Miss Sutcliffe's Academy of Dance in Pemberton, with whom she has been dancing since she was three years old.

Mrs Fenney, whose school is based at Mount Zion Chapel's hall in Enfield Street, said she was delighted with Charlotte's success. She said: "Charlotte is excelling in her dancing and has passed all her examinations so far with top marks.

"We are very proud of Charlotte and all she has achieved so far. She really enjoyed taking part in the competition.

"It is a very enjoyable day for the students who are entered and I look forward to next year's competition."
