WIGAN’S Chris Hamill –better know as Limahl – last night became the second celebrity to be booted out of the jungle.
The Kajagoogoo singer lost out in a public vote to posho Hugo Taylor and follows MP Nadine Dorries back to the real world.
Speaking to I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here hosts Ant and Dec after he lost out, Limahl joked: “My gay vote, what happened to it?”
But the singer, known for his 80s hits Too Shy and Never Ending Story, had nothing but praise for his fellow contestants – even Eric Bristow with whom he had a couple of run-ins.
After describing Bristow – who is one of the favourites to win – as a “blunt instrument” he said the darts ace’s sense of humour helped keep up spirits in the camp.
He said: “It’s really a test.
“You are far away from your home comforts and your loved ones.
“The biggest test was the other personalities.”
And, after he was jetted in as a ‘late arrival’ to camp along with chef Rosemary Shrager, he added: “Typical. I came in late to Kajagoogoo and they fired me too!”
His toughest moments in the ITV show came during a bed bugs challenge. When faced with a coiled snake, Limahl admitted: “I should be used to snakes in the music business.”
And he said he had a ‘mini-breakdown’ telling the Bush Telegraph: “I’m a bit upset this morning, no-one’s talking to me. I feel a bit isolated. I’m a happy person. What happens is you start doubting yourself. Your self-confidence goes down.
“You think there’s something wrong with me, I don’t fit in. The thought of going through ten days, being here and not having any friends it’s quite tough.”
But the Pemberton-born star soon made up with his campmates.
