The Mayor of Wigan, Councillor Joy Birch and Consort Albert Bradley, made their annual Christmas visit to Wigan’s Royal Albert Edward Infirmary (RAEI) and Leigh Infirmary last week.

The visit follows in a long tradition of attendances to Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust by the residing Mayor and this year saw another welcome return. Arriving at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, the Mayor and Consort were greeted by the Trust’s Facilities Manager, Nick Bastow, Lorraine Heaton, Contracts Services Manager and Trust Volunteers. The Mayor and Consort then toured the hospital including visiting Rainbow, Billinge, Neo Natal Wards, as well as Taylor Unit and Ward 3 at Leigh Infirmary.

Nick Bastow, Facilities Manager, said of the visit, “We are delighted that the Mayor of Wigan, and her Consort, have taken time out of their busy festive schedule to visit the Trust, and our staff.”
