A WIGAN woman has gone to great lengths to raise more than £1,000 for a charity close to home.
Michelle Aindow took on, and completed, the Great North Swim in memory of a work colleague’s father, who died earlier this year.
The 26-year-old, who works for Scott Rees Solicitors as a trainee legal executive took on, and completed, the gruelling swim in one hour and four minutes, for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.
Michelle said: “I am made up that I was able to complete the swim. So many other winners were being pulled out of the lake which made things a whole lot harder but I was determined to complete the race. It was completely mad but I am so glad I have done it and been able to raise so much money for the hospice.”
Her boss David Byrne presented Michelle with a donation of £100 from the firm.
