WIGAN’S MP enjoyed a behind the scenes visit to the magic of the big screen.
Film fan Lisa Nandy visited Wigan’s Empire Cinema to be treated to a rare chance to see the magic behind the scenes.
Empire’s general manager Nicola Wood discussed the technical challenges of running a multiplex which has up to 10 movies running simultaneously.
They also chatted about the challenge of catering for families, young people, seniors and parent and baby groups.
Ms Wood emphasised that the 45 strong staff team at the multiplex continue to “work hard” to ensure the cinema caters for all sections of the community.
As part of the behind-the-scenes tour Ms Nandy met Norman Brown – a projectionist for 46 years – who started his career at the former ABC Preston in 1966.
Ms Nandy said: “This was a fantastic insight into what goes on behind the scenes and to meet Norman Brown, a real Wigan success story.
“I want to thank Nicola and the team for showing me just how much goes in to keeping Wigan entertained.”
