THEY’VE done it!

For the last few months, Wigan band Boomin have been urging local people to vote for them in a contest to share the stage with McFly.

Boomin, which is made up of Adam and Edd Langmead and Rory O’Grady have beaten more than 1,000 bands from across the country to support their idols in March.

Singer and bassist Rory said: “This feels like a massive achievement. We worked so hard asking fans to vote and it’s paid off.

“It just goes to show how loyal our fans are. We want to thank all the people who voted and promoted us to other people.

“It was a great achievement by the fans and without them we would just be in the pub on that date but instead are supporting McFly.

“Performing with McFly means we can show 1,600 new fans what we are about. The adrenaline goes through the roof at these gigs but it feels amazing. It will be good to meet McFly again and you never know, they might enjoy our set.”

Boomin will support the pop band at The Victoria Hall, Stoke on Sunday, March 18. The national competition saw more than 1,000 bands enter and thousands of people vote to get their local acts to the top. The trio finished third out of all the bands in the UK and were the number one band in the North West.

Boomin, mostly known for covering original tracks, are now preparing their set for their 15 minutes of fame.

Rory added: “We will definitely perform Bukaroo at the gig because that is the song we entered the competition with. We will also include a cover of some sort, probably a medley of LMFAO and a new song from our album out this summer which is called Original Junkie. All the dance moves will be out and might be replaced with some beat boxing instead of a cliche rock ending.”
