PLAYING the first gig at the new Indiependence club is Oaces.

Wigan’s very own Oasis tribute act will be rocking the stage at the new venue on King Street West, formerly The Waiting Room.

For just £3, Oasis fans can listen to the next best thing and enjoy an one-and-a-half hour set from the five lads this Saturday.

Lead singer Chris Maddocks AKA Liam Gallagher, said: “We are all overwhelmed to have been asked to play the first gig at the new Indiependence a week before Steve Craddock from Ocean Colour Scene takes to the stage

“We will be singing most of the classic Oasis anthems such as Rock ‘n’ Roll Star, Slide away, Live Forever, Stand By Me and some great B-sides such as I Am The Walrus and It’s Good To Be Free

“We will do a wide variety of songs for everyone to enjoy.”

Formed last May, Oaces is made up of Chris Maddocks, Stu Athay, Ben Joyce, Dan Holt and Gaz Ronan.

Chris who is the brains behind the band is more commonly known for his former roles in Echosella and the Penny Blacks while Gaz has spent several years drumming for local lads The Relays.

Chris added: “This gig is on home soil and these are our roots.

“It is a very cheap gig for what we are giving back.

“It is our fans and followers that make the nights so special so they deserve to get their money’s worth.

“We will make sure they will.”

Oaces have played several local gigs to date at venues including The Swinley and Orrell St James’ Rugby Club.

Chris added: “We have done a few gigs up to now and we’ve got some great feedback from people.

“Most of the feedback has been positive but we have received some negative comments which I love the most and am most grateful for because we can build from the negatives and turn them into positives.”

Doors open at 10pm and Oaces are on stage from 10.30pm.

Entry is £3 which also includes entry to the club after the gig.

Tickets for future gigs are available to buy via www.oaces.co.uk or Ticketline or by calling Chris on 07979483274.
