HOLLYWOOD GOSSIP: Gala for Katie's dance foundation
KATIE HOLMES has been hanging out with her dancing pals in Hollywood.
The actress hit the red carpet outside the legendary Kodak Theatre ahead of a special dance gala for the Dizzy Feet Foundation, an organisation she helped found with So You Think You Can Dance judge NIGEL LYTHGOE, director ADAM SHANKMAN and Dancing With The Stars judge CARRIE ANN INABA.
"It's so good for kids to have this outlet and to have this opportunity," Katie told local news channel ABC 7.
"There are so many deserving kids out there that need the help, and it's really rewarding to be a part of something that can give it to them."
PENELOPE CRUZ has revealed she was desperate for a role in Nine, despite being "shy" about her singing.
The Spanish actress, who stars in the musical with NICOLE KIDMAN, MARION COTILLARD, KATE HUDSON and SOPHIA LOREN, was so keen she even tried out for various parts.
"I auditioned for different (roles for the film], and I would have been happy with any of the characters – I just really wanted to be part of this movie," she told Entertainment Tonight.
"I really love dance and I really love music, but I have never been able to sing professionally in any way before this movie – only in my karaoke at home. I am very shy about singing."
American singer ALICIA KEYS has announced plans to tour the UK. The 12-time Grammy Award winner will play four shows, starting at Birmingham NIA on May 19 and closing at Manchester MEN Arena on May 29.
She will also play Glasgow SECC and London's O2 Arena as part of a European tour to promote her highly-anticipated fourth album, The Element Of Freedom.
Alicia describes it as a dichotomy of strength and vulnerability, saying: "The music is really strong, and the drums are really aggressive, but my voice is vulnerable and delicate."
SUSAN BOYLE'S family have apparently revealed they would like KATHY BATES to play her on the big screen.
With rumours flying that SIMON COWELL is producing a movie version of the Britain's Got Talent star's life, her elder brother Gerry said he would like the Oscar winner to portray his sister.
"I would not be surprised in the least if there was a film made of her life, and I would personally like to see Kathy Bates play my sister – other British actresses like BRENDA BLETHYN would also be great, and I just hope they get BRAD PITT to play me!" he told RadarOnline.com.
