Law firm boss in line for top women's award

The chairman of one of the region's largest law firms, Stephensons Solicitors LLP, has been shortlisted for a top award.

Ann Harrison, from Wigan, has been unveiled as a contender in the Professional and Financial Services category of Crain's Manchester Business magazine's Businesswoman of the Year awards.

The awards, in their second year, seek to highlight the immensely talented pool of professional female role models in the region, with accolades to be given out in the following categories: Professional and Financial Services, Media and Marketing, Business Services/Not for Profit and General Business.

Ms Harrison, a lawyer for almost 30 years, was made chairman of Stephensons in early 2008, becoming one of a select group of women at the helm of the major North West law firms. She has guided the firm through troubled economic times and has helped secure important contracts.

The final is on December 18 at The Palace Hotel in Manchester.
