CARLEY Stenson is preparing to take over the role of Princess Fiona in Shrek: The Musical and can’t wait to get stuck in.
And to give fans a taste of what is to come, a photo of the Billinge actress was posted on the official Shrek Twitter account.
The caption read: “Meet our (soon-to-be) Princess! @carleystenson takes over as Princess Fiona on May 23 - doesn’t she look lovely?!” as Carley prepared for her first day in rehearsals.
This is Carley’s latest role after she said goodbye to character Elle Woods in Legally Blonde: The Musical and clearly the former Hollyoaks star couldn’t contain her excitement.
She posted on Twitter: “I will be playing princes Fiona in West End’s Shrek from May 23
“Thank you so much for my well wishes lovely people! I’m here early YES ME!!! Chilling with my ‘green’ highlighter and water! Too keen maybe!? (sic)”
The 27-year-old will take over from Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh, who makes her final appearance on May 21 playing Princess Fiona, the character voiced by Cameron Diaz in the Shrek movies and originally portrayed on stage by Amanda Holden.
Carley will join a cast that includes Dean Chisnall (Shrek), Richard Blackwood (Donkey) and EastEnders star Neil McDermott (Lord Farquaad).
Carley - who played Steph Roach, nee Dean, in Channel 4 show Hollyoaks since 2000 - quit the show in 2010 because she wanted to focus on a career in musicals.
