WIGANERS are in for another super soaking for charity when a white-knuckle water slide returns to the town centre this summer.
Wigan and Leigh Hospice (WLH) is running its Ticket to Slide event again after more than 900 people took the 110m plunge down Standishgate last year.

The event will run for one day in June and the Hindley-based charity is promising sliders an even wetter, wilder experience second time around.
The slide will return as last year’s event proved a massive success with Wiganers lining the course and the weekend raising more than £10,000 for WLH.
Hospice fund-raising and lottery manager Maxine Armstrong said: “Ticket to Slide raised a fantastic amount for the hospice last year and we’re hoping to do the same again with a faster and wetter slide experience.
“We’ll be pumping highly pressured water along the slide so be warned, everyone taking part will be absolutely soaked by the end.”
Participants will slide from outside the Grand Arcade entrance down the length of Standishgate, coming to a halt opposite the Wilkinson store.
Participants are encouraged to wear fancy dress and the hospice also needs volunteers to build the course out of hay bales, plastic sheets and rubber matting.
Emma Barton, from Wigan Council, said: “Last year the event certainly made a splash with supporters of the hospice and we are delighted to be helping them out to make this year’s event even better.
“So many people know across Wigan borough just how important this fantastic cause is and the vital support money raised from events like this gives to the hospice.”
Ticket to Slide is on Sunday, June 14 from 11am until 4pm. Around 500 tickets are on sale priced £10 each for two rides. To book a place, ring the hospice on 01942 524204 or visit www.wlh.org.uk
