A KITCHEN manager has been commended for her work at one of the borough’s favourite alehouses and hailed as a rising star in the pub industry.

Lauren Morley received a Team Players Apprenticeship qualification by her employer Spirit Pub Company at a recent awards ceremony.

Hard-working Lauren works at the Robin Hood pub on Bolton Road in Ashton-in- Makerfield and was recognised for completing the NVQ Diploma in food production and catering with flying colours.

The 24-year-old from Ashton, said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the apprenticeship, learning while I work was definitely a benefit for me.

“It allowed me to pick up new skills while also building on my practical experience. I’m looking forward to taking on my next apprenticeship and continuing my development.”

Lauren will now progress to the Team Leader Apprenticeship programme while keeping her role as the Robin Hood’s kitchen manager. Director Debbie Moore, from Spirit, said: “We are proud to recognise our team members that have undertaken apprenticeships.

“It takes commitment, dedication and determination to complete an apprenticeship and Lauren has clearly shown that she has what it takes to progress.”

The apprenticeship programme, which is supported by Charnwood Training Group, was created to provide a clear career pathway for those working in the hospitality sector and offer an alternative to university for those keen to progress through a vocational route.

Linda McCallion, Training Officer from Charnwood who has worked with Lauren throughout her apprenticeship, said: “Lauren has been a pleasure to work with.

“She’s been enthusiastic to learn new skills that she can apply straight away in her job and I’ve enjoyed watching her expand her knowledge and grow in confidence over the months.

“Lauren’s a great asset to the pub industry and I’m sure she’ll go far.”
