MUSIC fans hoping to attend Sir Elton John’s hotly-anticipated stadium gig will have to move fast to grab the few remaining tickets.

Only a handful of seats are still up for sale for the gig next weekend, which will see the superstar singer-songwriter perform his hits for more than 10,000 adoring fans at the Leigh Sports Village (LSV).

The open-air concert is the first date of a summer tour for the pianist, known for his flamboyant costumes and stage shows as well as penning a string of hits which have sold millions of copies around the world, which will also see him visit Nottingham, Buckinghamshire, Colchester and Newcastle.

Leigh is excitedly gearing up for what promises to be the biggest gig in the town in decades, with the stadium prepared to rock out to hits such as Your Song, Rocket Man and Crocodile Rock.

LSV chief executive Simon Toon said: “This is genuinely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Elton John in

Leigh, and we’d hate for anyone to think that they’re going to miss the chance to enjoy him performing some of the greatest pop songs of our times.

“There are just a few tickets left, so do act now to avoid disappointment.”

Sir Elton will be joined on stage at the LSV by up-and-coming Welsh electro-pop act Bright Light Bright Light, with the two performers having already worked together on recent single I Wish We Were Leaving. The Leigh concert has energised the town, with thousands of tickets disappearing soon after they went on sale, all the hospitality packages being taken and local businesses within walking distance of the stadium opening up their car parks to accommodate gig-goers.

The singer-songwriter’s tour will take him to a stadium gig in Colchester as well as appearing at arenas in Nottingham and Newcastle and performing for Sportsaid at Stoke Park Country Club. He will also make the short trip to the Republic of Ireland to play Dublin in December.

Sir Elton John will play at the LSV on Saturday June 21. A few tickets remain on sale and are available by ringing 0844 8472441 or visiting www.ticketmaster.co.uk
