IT’S nearly time!

Santa is getting ready to head to homes around the world and by way of a practice session, he and his reindeers turned up in Wigan.

Youngsters aged five and under at Hindley Sure Start Centre were delighted when they met reindeers at their annual Christmas Grotto event.

Santa was also there to look after his reindeers, which were having a day off from their other ‘job’ at a petting farm in Cheshire.

Jo Robinson, Sure Start co-ordinator, said: “Staff and volunteers worked hard to make it extra special for the children.

“We organise the grotto every year and for something different, a group of volunteers came up with the idea.

“The children loved it – they could stroke them gently. They were really excited about seeing them.

“They also loved seeing the different characters, like the snowmen and elves, it was a truly magical day for all of them and us.”
