TYLDESLEY actress Sacha Parkinson says she does not regret leaving popular ITV soap Coronation Street.
The 20-year-old, who played Sian Powers and formed one half of the soap’s first lesbian couple, left the serial drama at the end of 2011 and has since been busy with new project.
She said: “I’ve been so happy and fortunate to do something a bit different since leaving Corrie. It’s nice people have given me a chance.
“When you’re in something that’s in the public eye so much sometimes they can’t see beyond the role.
“But to get better, the only way you can progress is through different experiences, to go away and learn more.”
Sacha’s most recent job has been playing student Kate Harper in BBC3 drama The Crash, which was based on real-life events.
The drama saw Kate reunited with her boyfriend Tom Harris, played by Manchester actor Lewis Rainer, at Christmas.
But tragedy strikes when the couple are involved in a two-car pile up on the way to the pub.
Sacha admitted that the harrowing filming made her become even more cautious when driving.
She said: “I’ve been lucky enough never to have seen a crash in real life, but when I saw the whole crash scene for the show it was quite frightening.
“It’s made me realise you’re not invincible behind the wheel of a car.
“It was no-one’s fault, it was bad timing, it can happen to anyone.”
Sacha was proud to be involved in the show and tweeted; “Thank you so SO so much to everyone who watched #TheCrash tonight, I can’t tell you how grateful I am! I’m so proud of all of us! Thank you!”
And for Sacha starring in the drama gave her a chance to reunite with pal Tom Harris, who played her brother in Grange Hill a few years ago.
Sacha also tweeted that she was in Paris with her boyfriend, Josh Wakefield.
