WIGAN town centre bosses are inviting all local mascots, community groups and organisations to take part in this year’s Santa’s Christmas Parade on Sunday November 16.

Santa, his team of reindeers and more than 200 parade participants will take to the streets of Wigan town centre to provide festive cheer. Organisations taking part in the parade are invited to perform and entertain thousands of shoppers in the town centre until 4pm.

Last year’s parade included St Michael’s Dramatic Society pantomime cast and the Urban Funk dance crew. This year’s parade is scheduled to be a Christmas spectacular.

The parade route; leaves Mesnes Park at 1pm, travelling onto Mesnes Road, turning right onto Standish gate, arriving in Market Place at 1.30pm.

The Santa’s Christmas parade is a part of Wigan’s town centre Christmas events.

The Christmas light switch-on will take place on Thursday, November 13 between 4.30pm and 7.30pm in the Market Place.

Toploader, best known for their hit single Dancing in the Moonlight will perform on stage and then officially turn on the town’s lights display.

A number of other acts are also set to perform including stars from the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent with more to be confirmed in the next week.
