SIR Ian McKellen is to return for another sequel - this time X-Men.
The actor who was raised in Wigan, said he was delighted to be asked back to star in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, because he thought his role would be left to Michael Fassbender, who played the younger version of his character, Magneto, in X-Men: First Class.
He also revealed that he thought the Lord of The Rings character Gandalf was more powerful than Magneto.
When being asked about whether he was tempted to use Magneto’s powers of magnetism to steal the Orcs’ weapons in the Tolkein movies, he told The Colbert Report: “No, see, because you know Gandalf is more powerful than Magneto,” adding that, Gandalf would triumph in dust-up between his two famous characters.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is set for its UK release on December 13, while Sir Ian’s return to X-Men will happen in summer 2014.
