DOG OWNERS are being urged to get snapping their pets near canals and rivers in the borough this Christmas.
British Waterways is looking for canal loving canines to front their new marketing campaign for the Canal & River Trust charity and believe that with long stretches of waterways, Wigan could be the perfect place.
Now, with just five days to go until British Waterways’ canine competition closes on December 31, dog walkers are being asked to put their ‘best paw forward’ and head out for a Christmas winter stroll and take advantage of some great waterway walking routes across the North West.
Those who post pictures of their pooch by the canal will be in with a chance to have them fronting a national campaign.
A British Waterways spokesperson said: “This is a really fun opportunity for people and their dogs to get involved in a new marketing campaign when we’re starting on an exciting new journey to becoming the new charity. We know thousands of dog lovers in Wigan use our fantastic canalside routes so we’re asking them to take their cameras or camera phones and post them online on our competition site.”
