A HOST of Wigan stars were out in force at a charity ball to help cancer patients at The Christie.
Coronation Street actress Kym Lomas, of Ashton, her co-star Alan Halsall and his actress wife Lucy-Jo Hudson, who is ambassador of Wigan’s Joining Jack charity, were among the guests at the Diamond Ball at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel, in Deansgate.
Newton-le-Willows singer Rick Astley provided entertainment, along with Emmerdale’s band Edna’s Hat, Manchester Show Choir and Clint Boon.
And Kym’s 15-year-old daughter Emily wowed audiences as she sang on stage.
Celebrity guests raised more than £147,000 for the development of a new teenage cancer unit at the hospital.
On the night guests also heard from chief executive at The Christie Caroline Shaw, as well as former patients Andy Smith and Tom Jordan, who have been successfully treated at the specialist cancer centre based in Manchester.
Presenter Terry Christian was the compere on the night and Garry Owen was the auctioneer.
JD Sports organised the Diamond Ball as part of their three year partnership with The Christie charity.
