HAIRDRESSING students will represent a Wigan college at an awards ceremony following an annual competition.
Students from Wigan and Leigh College Image Centre backcombed and crimped their way through their annual hairdressing competition day with many of them now going onto representing the college at the North West regional heats.
The students studying on a range of levels were challenged to demonstrate their skills by interpreting the chosen theme, which was A Night at the Theatre.
As well as creating an innovative hair style they were also able to use make-up and props to complement the overall designs.
On the day of the competition the students had a few hours to complete their designs from start to finish and in the afternoon they were judged by Harry Callaghan, Michelle Alexander and Julie Moore, members of the Wigan and Leigh College Hair and Beauty Employer Forum.
The students created their designs on live models and were awarded prizes for each different level of study.
Level One student Danielle Stevens, Level Two student Cosette Stauton and Level Three student Caroline Barker were awarded first place in their categories and Jordan Foster won first prize in the barbering competition for his precision cutting.
