WIGAN town centre will be lit up tonight when the Christmas lights are switched on.

With a packed line-up announced last week, another name has been added to the bill today in the form of The Voice star Frances Wood.

The 18-year-old will join X Factor finalist Kye Sones, who was booted off the show last week, on stage to perform the grand switch on.

Frances is becoming known for her song-writing talent as well as her vocal abilities.

Both acts will perform for what is expected to be a huge crowd.

Frances caught the attention of the British public on BBC talent show The Voice earlier this year when she was mentored by American singer and record producer Will.I.Am.

The switch on event kicks off at 4pm with a number of other acts to accompany the two headlining stars before drawing to a close at 7.30pm.

Radio presenter Danny Bee and Wigan’s Big Brother star Luke Marsden are hosting proceedings.

A number of acts, both local and national, have been booked in to maker appearances and perform.

These include 2010 Britains Got Talent semi-finalist Olivia Archbold, One Voice community choir, girl band Bon Bonz and local acts Zoe Boomin and Scott Chapman.

CBBC star Hacker T Dog will once again be making an appearance on the stage in Marketplace.

The Rugby League World Cup trophy will also be on stage during the evening too and after the event lucky rugby fans will then be offered the opportunity to have their photos taken alongside in the Grand Arcade shopping centre.

A number of senior players from Wigan Warriors are also expected to make an appearance too.

A competition to have a personal audience with X Factor finalist Kye has been hugely popular and has attracted a huge number of entries with VIP tickets also up for grabs.
