OSCAR winner Colin Firth - famed for his portrayal of Jane Austin’s hero, Mr Darcy - has sent good wishes to those staging a production of Pride and Prejudice in Lancashire.
The actor wrote to cast and organisers dramatising Austen’s work as the first of the open air season of plays at Lytham Hall on Friday June 14.
Chapterhouse Theatre Company marks the 200th anniversary of Pride and Prejudice’s publication with this adaptation by Laura Turner, produced by Richard Main.
Firth, who famously played Darcy in the 1995 BBC series, wrote: “My compliments to everyone associated with the production of Pride and Prejudice at Lytham Hall.
“When we shot our television version nearly 20 years ago we were lucky enough to enjoy a rare summer of warm unbroken sunshine.
“I hope that the cast fromChapterhouse will enjoy the same.”
