SHAKESPEAREAN actor Sir Ian McKellen firmly believes that the famous bard was gay.
The Wigan actor is adamant William Shakespeare preferred relations with men even though he was married with children.
He said he came to his conclusion after studying William Shakespeare’s work.
The 72-year-old said in a New York newspaper: “The Merchant of Venice, centering on how the world treats gays as well as Jews, has a love triangle between an older man, younger man and a woman.
“And the complexity in his comedies with cross-dressing and disguises is immense.”
